Do any of these events ring a bell to you: Orientation Week, Open Day, Academic Advice Day, Destination Melbourne? Or how about the First Year at Melbourne Facebook page, or the First_year@UniMelb blog?
Well, these awesome things are brought to you by the ‘Transition and Orientation’ team! And I don’t think they receive nearly enough credit for their work!
I was absolutely shattered to hear that Transition and Orientation will be no longer. (Let’s not go into the nitty gritty behind the reasons why). As one of their gazillion volunteers for orientation, open day, Destination Melbourne and other programs, I have had the pleasure of working and getting to know these guys a bit better over time – and they’re just simply amazing people!
So this is a very, very big thank you to Kathryn Boin, Ron Baird and Simone Thorpe, and to all the other staff from T&O! O’week, open days and everything else aren’t going to be the same anymore without you three on board.
(And a shout out to my awesome cheery friend, Roy who used to manage the First Year at Melbourne facebook page. He’s done such an amazing job with the page!)
Thanks for making my transition from high school to uni such a smooth and amazing one. I have LOVED volunteering with T&O (what am I going to do with my life now! haha) Thanks for all the shirts, I can almost open up a melbourne uni merchandise store in my house!
You guys are the definition of teamwork, effort, and hard work – and I am super inspired your work.
Good luck to whoever is taking on their events and program now, because T&O’s shoes are irreplaceable.
On behalf of all the students here at Melb, I wish you guys all the best!
